Guest Lurcherbitch
There is a white cat moved in by me. The fecker insists on teasing my dogs. How it is still alive, I dont know. Swifty and pup just nearly had it. I was wondering legally where do i stand if my dogs kill it? It wonders on the lane, in my garden and on the fields. Now i dont want my dogs to kill it.... but if it carry's on the way it is then it's days are numbered, the other cats seem to know not to potter round by mine, but this stupid fecker is pushing it's luck. borderterrier 0
LB, if your dogs kill a cat in your garden, and you haven't enticed it in or hindered it's escape I'm fairly sure you wouldn't get into bother. The same as if my Budgie flew into a neighbour's garden and a cat killed it, the cat wouldn't be in bother. However, in a lane or field or any public place really it could be viewed as not having your dog under control.
Tallyho 181
but how would you stand with the law if the cat has come on to your property, and the dogs got hold and killed it ?????

Guest Lurcherbitch
Are cats not classed as vermin? i am nearly sure you dont have to report it if you run them over.? Not that i am gonna run the f*****g little thing over you understand . Edited February 20, 2007 by Lurcherbitch
Tallyho 181
i think its unfair that if my dog was to roam about shiting on peoples flower beds or shitting any where for that matter i would receive a hefty fine, but the moggys can do it any way and get away with it, now surly fouling is fouling reguardless of what animal is doing it, cat shit is just as nasty as dogs, so i think cat owners should be fined aswell

minion 29
I am fairly lucky in the fact that my wifes parents have cats so I broke my lurcher to them when she was a pup. She doesn't bother with them. The guy who used to live next door to me had a ex-track dog that he was going to breed with his Collie half cross and his girlfriend let it out my mistake. It chased an old guys cat and killed it. There were kids playing in the street and it wasn't the most plesant thing. Of course it wasn't the dogs fault as it had been taught to chase a small furry object, but alot of people in the village started saying that the dog was dangerous to the kids because it killed a cat. Rubbish I know, but it shows that you are better avoiding cats. Break your dogs to them and you don't need to worry.
